Now Little Alga is a tiny wee thing measuring between 5 mircrometres to 5 milimetres and not only that but is composed of lipid oil to 50% of its body mass. Lipid oil when processed creates a cleaner burning fuel than petroleum and is also biodegradable containing no sulphur either.
You see our world is designed, built and fashioned upon the oil production blueprint and while it has served us mighty well all is not rosy at the pumps. No siree Bob due to a prediction by geophysicist King Hubbert in 1956 that oil production as we know it is due to end; soon. Thus we have released the breaks on research and development regarding alternative energies and lo and behold some mighty sightings are on the horizon.
Seven decades of R & D around the globe from Czech Republic to the US and Australia to Germany, India to Africa round again to Japan with a few more thrown in experts predict that algae production may replicate the oil production blueprint we have grown to depend on; even if we do not love it. However algae production will spell a greener industry producing a product that thrives on CO2 thus aiding global efforts to reduce this disease on our stratosphere et al etc!
Another good thing is because we may produce it ourselves we also may choose the locations within certain parameters which will reduce our carbon footprint and make it quite convenient. Imagine not having to haul fuel across borders or even across great distances because a production plant may be located close to major cities and even airports.
So to all you lads and lassies out there with some buckaroos to invest pray consider green technology especially algae production because very soon, perhaps even real, soon this industry is set to take off. You see it reaps rewards of up to 15,000 gallons per acre and perhaps more as time evolves and systems advance. This is a huge improvement on second generation crops like jatropha and camelina besides it really does not have to be grown on top class agricultural land.
They say size matters, well not any more, because if a wee thing like Little Alga can produce amazing results the horizons may soon be filled with even more amazing possibilities. Oh I almost forgot, the US navy have been doing tests with bio fuels on their equipment like the Green Hornet supersonic jet and their Riverine Command boats with amazing success even as recent as the middle of Oct 2010.
Mercedes Benz took one of their wee C class diesel cars in India and operated it with bio fuel from jatropha again without any adverse results so the future is looking brighter which shall spell massive employment and investment opportunities. God bless and tooralee tooraloo. The recession has left the building, thank God!
