There are now probably as many ways to "suck fat" as there are to gain it! Liposuction has gotten progressively confusing for people. Whether we suck it out with a cannula or melt it down with chemicals, laser or ultrasound, the idea is to get rid of it permanently.
Yes, people can still gain weight and fatty deposits after surgery, but rarely in the areas that have been liposuctioned. Liposuction is best used as a sculpting tool in body contouring, removing unwanted fat that doesn't respond to diet and exercise. Increasingly, liposuction is being used as a "kick start" for people during their weight loss journey, enabling them to be more active with exercise. Like many procedures in plastic surgery, liposuction allows for pretty instant gratification, boosting self esteem and confidence.
I personally prefer the tumescent liposuction technique with the patient asleep (twilight), the fatty tissue is injected with a saline solution containing Lidocaine (think Novocain like the dentist), bicarbonate (to buffer) and adrenaline (to constrict the blood vessels so there is little if any bleeding). The actual liposculpture is performed with various cannulas (long thin metal tubes with openings at the tip). This technique removes the fat cleanly and does not leave behind oily residues that the body would have to resorb (melted fat = butter oil).
Recovery time varies with the amount of fat removed. All liposuction heals best with the use of a compression garment (e.g., "jaw-bra", abdominal binder, spandex body suit, etc.).face lift , ear surgery, chin surgery, brow lift, facial rejuvenation
