In these unfortunate economical times, it is becoming more and more common for the bride and groom to try and cut back when it comes to planning their wedding. But you don't have to eliminate items to save cashyou just have to use money saving tips to cut down on costs and to get exactly what you are looking for, especially when it comes to catering!
Most couples are under the impression that they will have to contact an actual catering company to serve food at their reception, when in reality, they have many other options! Your options can vary depending on where you get married. If you are having your reception at a venue that as a caterer on-site, they may offer you special pricing that is included in your rental fee. Be sure to ask the venue if they offer this service and if so, take a look at their menu and pricing and see if it is in your budget!
If you and your partner want to be a little more original than a catering service, consider ordering your food from your favorite restaurant! Although you may have never thought about it before, that little Italian restaurant down the street that you love may offer catering service at a price you can afford! A lot of restaurants offer a catering menu on their website. If you can't find one there, call or stop in and explain your wants and needs and they will be sure to offer their assistance!
So if you are still looking to cut back prices on catering, consider making the food yourself! This is a simple way to design your own menu while keeping the cost down. Things to consider will be how many people you are cooking for, the theme of your wedding (if you have one), if you will need extra assistance or equipment, and where your reception will be. For example, if you are having an outdoor reception, consider setting up a grill and having a good old fashioned barbeque!
Other "do it yourself" catering tips include having all of your guests bring a dish for a potluck or buying your food in bulk at the local warehouse food market. Remember, if you are going to be catering your own wedding, you might have to take care of the tables and chairs as well. Once you find the kind that you'd like to use, cover them with colored paper table clothes and decorate with ribbons, flowers, or balloons! Also, don't hesitate to ask friends or family for help. They know how much this day means to you and would surely do anything they could to make it easier for you!
