Bugatti Buyers

Bugatti was once one of the most sought after cars producers in the world. Made in Germany, the cars were all high performance and were some of the most exclusive cars in the world. The name is now owned by the Volkswagen Group, but isn't used to manufacture cars anymore.

So it's big news that a 1926 Bugatti Type thirty eight was found dismantled in a barn in Sydney Australia this week. It was expected to reach around nine thousand pounds at auction on the basis that it was in bits, and lacked an engine and body so auctioneers were amazed when seven phone bidders competed, and the restoration project' finally went for sixty eight thousand pounds.

All that remains of the vehicle are four unloved wheels, damaged fenders that seem to be once have painted red, a headlight, steering wheel, rear bumper, axles, other wilts and bobs and the seat shells. There is very little left of the doors, so this restoration project is set to be big for the mystery bidder, who is known to live in the northern hemisphere. Once refurbished, Car Insurance on the vehicle will be astronomic.

In the right condition, a type thirty eight would be worth over two hundred thousand ponds, but in the state the vehicle is in it will cost a lot to restore to its original best.

Bonhams, the auctioneer who sold the vehicle said that only a handful of the motors made their way to Australia via the London Bugatti seller.

At the same auction a 1935 Bentley was sold for two hundred and three thousand pounds, and a jaguar XK120 sold for one hundred and fifty four thousand.
