subject: The Right Diet Cleanses The Body [print this page]

All of us have bad lifestyle habits which somehow makes us an easy target for low immunity, weight gain and obesity and lack of energy as well. To ease out of these dilemmas, we can opt to cleanse our system and detoxify. Cleansing and detoxification are two different but affiliated processes.

The former is the elimination of toxic matter, stored wastes and other detrimental substances from the body. The latter is more specific as it refers to the process by which the body transforms the harmful toxins into a less adverse form. Both cleansing and detoxification are total body processes and there are seven approaches of elimination involved the liver, lungs, skin, blood, bowel, lymphatic system, and kidneys.

Every organ that does the work of elimination needs certain substances in order for it to do its specific job. The liver for example uses amino acids and sulfur compounds. The colon, on the other hand, is supported by fiber which is often comprised in the diet. Fiber not only supports regular bowel movement but absorbs excess toxins and flushes these out of the system. Unfortunately, because of our lifestyle and environmental modifications which are beyond our control, we are not able to bestow our bodies with the nutritional tools to properly cleanse and detoxify.

From various points of view, it might seem that a cleansing diet is a great idea to advance health and vitality. One of the most regular cleansing diets is a detox diet. This is a diet that will release the toxins in the body that have been stored in the fat cells and will allow the body to eliminate them and cleanse your body. There are many types of Detox Diets: The Raw Food Diet in this diet, wherein 75% of the food you eat should be plant-based and raw.

The practitioners of this diet believe that the enzymes contained in raw food will be removed when it is cooked. The diet generally abides of fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds. The Diuretic Diet is done in order to release body fluid and is prescribed for people with heart disease and kidney or liver disorders. Asparagus, parsley, artichoke, melon and other foods that are known to stimulate the release of fluids are part of this diet. Some even include coffee, tea and coke in the diet. There's also the Liquid Diet and Juice Fasting. In these diets, fruit and vegetable juices replace each meal. The practitioners understand that this type of diet can provide effects in quick weight loss. Others, however, debunk this by saying that the shed pounds are merely due to the fluids released by the body.

Detox diet is not as healthy as it sounds because it can lead to health problems that result from nutrition deficiencies. It can be worse since the majority of the protein sources are restrained from this diet, the lack of amino acids can inhibit the repair and build up of muscle tissues. At the same time, one should acknowledge that starving oneself can lead to a decline in metabolism as the body would want to conserve its energy. There are many factors which you need to deliberate before embarking on a cleansing diet; the appropriateness of the diet given your current health status; the time frame taken for the diet and consider the different types of cleansing diets for both price and effectiveness.
