subject: Wedding Photography - How To Capture Your Cherished Moments [print this page]

Planning a wedding is an exciting time in a persons life. You will find that you can be overwhelmed at times, excited at times and frustrated with all of the advice your friends and family are offering without solicitation. Keep in mind, this is a time when you need to focus on you and your other half. The best way to keep on track with all of your arrangements is by making list, more lists and probably even more lists.

Lists are often a bride and grooms best friend while they are planning their wedding day. You will find that you will have lists of florists to call, bakers, appointments to make and ones you have scheduled. With all this planning, one crucial aspect of capturing wedding day bliss is often overlooked until nearly the last minute. This is the wedding photographer. Although the photographer is almost as important as the bride and groom, many couples feel it is best to not hire the photographer early.

We feel the photographer should be one of the first vendors you hire or at the very least begin talking to and interviewing. Why? Simply because you want to be able to ensure you are getting not only a high quality and reputable wedding photographer, but also one that is reliable. Here are some questions to help you with your quest to find a great wedding photographer for your special day.

The very first thing you should do is make a list of questions to ask the potential wedding photographer when you meet him or her in person. Your list should include questions similar to these:

- Which style of photography are you familiar with?

- Do you have a favored style of wedding photography?

- Are you insured and/or bonded?

- Will you be the one photographing my wedding or will you have an employee at my wedding?

- How many cameras do you bring with you?

- What is you additional hourly rate if we would like you to stay longer at the reception?

- What types of packages do you offer?

- Can modifications be made to the packages?

- Do you maintain rights to the negatives or will you be giving us the negatives?

As you can see, there is much more to finding a wedding photographer than merely calling one and giving them a deposit over the phone. It is important that you look at their portfolio and fall in love with the pictures. Your personality also has to match your wedding photographer because you will be spending intimate moments with him or her so you should feel comfortable. If you are not comfortable, it will show in your pictures; which you will be looking at for the rest of your life.
