subject: The Vegan Diet - Facing Your Biggest Enemy...you! [print this page]

When you are first starting the vegan lifestyle, you will notice that your mind is going to start questioning your decision. This is a fact.

You will start thinking about what your friends and family would say, how hard is going to be for you to keep this with this diet, you don't know how to cook...and the list could go on for days. There is going to be so much going on in your head the first weeks that you might be inclined to quit and return to the "easier" way of life.

I want to give you a few tips on how to deal with your biggest enemy (your mind) so you won't talk yourself into failure.

Now the first thing to do as a vegan is the following: ask as many questions as possible. If you know people who are vegan, ask them how they manage their vegan lifestyles, what they eat or where do they buy their groceries. You get the point. And I can guarantee you they will be more than happy to help you out. There is nothing more satisfying for a vegan than helping someone who wants to be one.

Also if you go to college, you can take advantage of the nutrition teacher as I doubt she would charge you for her advice. Just go to the teacher and tell them about your new decision of becoming a vegan and start asking them questions about nutrition on the vegan diet. I would recommend though, to first do some research on your own before asking the teacher, so when time comes and you need to ask them a question, they would know that you have done your homework and take you more seriously.

Another tip that has helped me a lot is to write every possible obstacle you might think off when dealing with the vegan diet. So in this way, you will be prepared and be aware that you might be putting excuses for quitting, so when you catch yourself giving an excuse for quitting, just know your reason why you chose this diet in the first place, and that would hopefully put you back on the right track.

So don't let any excuse stop you from your journey to veganism, a better health and personal growth. You will be faced by challenges but by making questions and doing your own reasearch, you will be successful with this amazing lifestyle
