subject: Why your Weight can Fluctuate with the Seasons [print this page] When it comes to living in a four-season state, losing weight and keeping it off can be a problem. In many cases, peoples weight tends to fluctuate with the seasons. In the winter, Americans tend to gain a few extra pounds, in the summer they stay pretty stable, and in the summer it is pretty common to start losing weight again. Its not always a matter of donuts or bar stools, sometimes the weather and the seasonal changes simply affect your weight and all of your weight-loss plans. Its pretty obvious why. For one, during the winter there is snow, there is cold, there are shorter days and darker skies, it causes most people to become a little less motivated. In a lot of cases, wintertime is when people kiss their old workouts good-bye. Shorter days and the desire to stay where in where its warm can cause anyone, overweight or not, to want to stay home and skip exercising. But another common problem with the winter is complete hibernation. Not only do some of us experience seasonal-depression, but we also tend to eat more. This is because we are constrained in our homes due to frisk temperatures. Its harder to get out thus its easier to stay in and eat, often times, we eat too much when its cold.
Its no lie though that once the summer comes most of us start to lose some inches again. We begin riding our bikes to work again, we take walks more frequently, and getting up earlier and getting out of the house is so much better in the warm, hot sun. Im telling you, living in a 4-season state can really fluctuate your weight if youre not careful. The best advice for anyone who wants to keep their perfect bod is to move somewhere that is always warm like San Diego, Miami, or L.A. Not only is everyone else thin, making it hard for you to get fat, but the sun is shining all year round and winter depression does not exist.
