There are literally hundreds of programs and diets out there claiming to be the best diet solution for you. The truth is that most of these diet solutions are based around hype and propaganda and often times hinder rather than help your efforts to lose weight. This is because the diets most people are adhering to focus on trends and popularity as opposed to scientific research and what actually works. On the other hand there are plenty of diet solution programs out there that are based on scientific tests and field results that will still fail as a diet solution for you. Lets discuss further one of the main reasons of why this is the case.

People don't know where to begin. Asking why is a great beginning point, in almost any situation, particularly when dieting. When I ask people why they are dieting the way they are the overwhelming answer is "to lose weight". Losing weight may be the end result they are looking for, but the reasons diets work or don't work occur long before the actual weight loss. Weight loss can occur for a variety of reasons as a result of dieting. The answer to the question "why are you dieting the way you are" should be "because when I diet this way, or when I eat these foods my body is better equipped to burn fat more efficiently because ____________ and THEN I will lose weight". This distinction while a bit nitpicky can truly be the difference between a successful diet solution and an unsuccessful one. If you don't know if the foods you are eating are helping or hindering the fat burning process in your body then you can't possibly know with any certainty that eating those foods will help you lose weight. Basically, without being able to fill in the blank of the above sentence losing weight will remain frustratingly elusive. Learning how the foods you eat affect your body, particularly how they affect the fat burning metabolic process in your body is crucial to losing weight. Far too often, in fact almost all of the time, people simply focus on eating less carbs, less fats, and/or less calories. All carbs are NOT created equal and the same goes for calories and fats. There are carbs and fats that not only assist in but are necessary for your body to burn unwanted fat but this is a different discussion for another day.

Jumping blindly into a diet of any sort for whatever reason while respectable (in that you are at least trying) remains silly and typically worthless because without the research as to why your body will lose weight as a result of a particular diet solution weight loss is not likely to occur. This explains why so many millions of people are doing everything right, at least according to what they've been told, yet are continuously seeing no results. While the premise and principals of a working diet solution will remain constant from person to person, the particulars of why a person's body loses weight as a result of eating certain foods and not eating other foods differs, often drastically, from person to person. This is why knowing the why is absolutely essential in any successful diet solution. Remember, if your answer to the question "why?" is "to lose weight", you've got to take it a step further and ask "why will my body lose weight as a result of doing/eating this". Without this answer, you will be destined to a lifetime of dieting without any results to show for it.
