subject: Google Is Making Changes Again [print this page] The reason Google remains on top is that they are always adapting to the market in which they are in. And now they are getting ready to add some new features to their custom search which will offer a Google search box on every page of the web. This is optional to website owners and the customer search bar can be adapted to search only a specific set of documents which will allow it to keep focused on items that pertain to that topic contained on other pages of the same website.
In addition to this major change, Google will also expand the metadata support in their custom search results for Rich Snippets which were added earlier this year. This allows data from select web pages to show up in search results. In other words, web information will be directed on site to items that the website owner wants directed to. This is pre-outlined in their meta data code. Ultimately this change will make websites more user friendly quickly redirecting people to the information that they are looking to access without having to travel though excessive links to access it.
They will also be adding a means of restricting custom searches by modifying them with specific qualifiers so that the user doesn't have to keep revising the searches on their own. This is another means that they are using to make sure that you have the best possible experience each and every time you search Google for information.
And lastly their new changes, due out this week include some changes to the Wikipedia system of searches as well, allowing users to access multiple pages pertaining to their topic all at once. Use of this feature will require Wikipedia users to login to their account in order to take advantage of this bonus feature.
A better user experience is what makes Google the leader in the industry and their constant strive to maintain a quality experience and more efficient search results is what is keeping them on top in this very competitive industry.
