subject: The Common Causes Of Female Baldness [print this page]

Female baldness is not as common as male baldness, which is probably why we don't hear as much about it. Women are more self-conscious about baldness when it occurs and tend to suffer a lot more psychologically because of it than men do. Female baldness is often caused by hormones, such as the loss of estrogen after menopause, genetics (women are just as susceptible to inherited baldness as men) and the natural hair loss that comes with aging.

Female baldness, no matter what the cause is a serious problem. However, you will not be worrying and causing more of your hair to disappear once you understand some facts about female baldness. In many cases, female baldness is just a temporary occurrence and thankfully, finding a baldness solution to it is relatively straight forward and easy.

The important thing when you are dealing with temporary hair loss to keep your body healthy with good nutrition, your circulatory system functioning properly though exercise, and your scalp follicles open through massage and topical follicle conditioners such as almond oil and aloe vera.

Baldness in females is usually treated with one of three methods. You may have to try out more than one to find the one that will work best for you. However, you want to make sure that you take the time to find out about each one before you use it. You might even want to talk to your family doctor or a dermatologist about your female baldness problem.

In general as long as your scalp remains healthy and hair follicles remain open any temporary hair loss incurred will reverse itself over time. On the other hand if follicle death or damage has occurred some form of regenerative treatment such as minoxidil will likely be needed.

Nutrition is one of the many causes of female hair loss. A proper diet will ensure your hair grows in full and beautiful. However not having enough nutrients like protein and vitamins and minerals. Vegetarians need to be conscious of their eating habits to make sure they do not end up with hair loss, as meat is a great way to get protein into your body.

A common cause of baldness in females is genetic predisposition. A group of hormones called androgens can disrupt the growth cycle. It contains hormones like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone, which are produced by males in large amounts and in smaller amounts by females. This leads to hair loss conditions like androgenic alopecia.

If you have been diagnosed with thyroid disease, you may experience hair loss from that alone. A thyroid problem is when you have a thyroid that either out-performs or under-performs. Check with your doctor about this.

It may take some time to realise that this process is happening so it is a good idea to remain conscious of the amount of hair loss you are experiencing each day. Children, men and women all loose strands of hair each day.
