HTC HD2 Review
HTC HD2 Review

It's my first product review of any type, and I've decide to take a look at the HTC HD2. I won't enter into the technical spec, as this level of detail is freely available on the net and courtesy of magazines, instead I'll talk about my experience with using this handset over the past 6 months since I've owned it.

I chose to obtain this phone as my previous phone was on its last legs. I had a Nokia N95, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. It was, flat out, without doubt, the worst phone or any device I've owned during my twenty nine years of existence. Anyway, my N95 had restarted itself mid conversation, and I'd had enough, so done some study online, and learned the HD2 was due to be released the next weekend, and so i read up on the spec, looked at what it offered, and ordered it online that same day.

I've always been a fairly easy person in the case of mobiles, providing it allowed calls and text messages to be made and received easily, coupled with a camera, and allows you to play music files, I'd be happy. From what I'd read, this phone gives considerably more, but whether I'd absolutely needed those features would remain to be seen.

I got the phone on the same day as it's release, and one thing which was obvious was the size of it. The device is flat, so at least it wouldn't get noticed inside my pocket, but it's pretty large in length and width, which can be something I'd need to get familiar with. This took roughly two weeks, if that. It's really not a problem, particularly when you take into account what the phone offers.

I'm not the kind of person who enjoys reading manuals, I prefer instead a on the job approach, trying out different things, and looking into different settings. Trial and error, if I have a mistake, hopefully I'll have enough savvy to rectify it myself, otherwise I'll then take a look at the manual. With the sheer numbers of features on this phone, I've made a fair number of mistakes, but having said that, there simple to rectify, and none of these seem to have been disastrous or caused any issue for much more than one or two minutes.

Stated above earlier, the phone is large in proportions, and the cause of that is its screen, it's huge. I believe the resolution as 480x800 and this allows me to play videos with spectacular clarity. Straight from the box the phone supports the normal mp4 video format, but you can also purchase other software players, for example Core Player, which lets me play other file formats, like avi etc. The device has 512MB Ram and also a 1GHz processor, so video playback is smooth without stutter. Not only can one view movies and enjoy music in route to the office, but I could also communicate with the entire world as the phone has email access, an RSS application that allows me a subscription to my favourite news feeds and blogs, a number of internet browsers so i can browse via the internet and a number of other applications and features. Of course, I'm delighted with the phone, it helps ease the pain of what I experienced prior with life while using the Nokia N95.
