subject: Things You Need To Know Before Buying Metal Beds [print this page]

Jan 5, 2010 - One third of your life is spent sleeping. An individual who lives to about 80 years old sleeps an average of 10 years in their life time. Given that statistics, indeed a comfortable, well-built metal bed set is imperative for healthy well-being.

Ideally, 8 hours sleep is needed for our body to recharge and to function well and sound. With the changing trends, not all of us have the time to follow this rule. Buying metal beds is more stretching out. It is a decision that needs consideration and scrutiny.

The size of your bedroom will determine the size of the bed you are going to buy. No matter how you loathe those king sized metal beds, the size of your room is one factor to consider.

The price of the bed does not really reflect the beds quality. Usually they are priced ranging from several hundreds of dollars to thousands. Prices largely depend on accompanied mattress. From the traditional box spring mattress, bedroom furniture manufacturers are now using memory foam mattress, air mattresses and pillow top mattresses in an effort to add more comfort and a softer sleep.

The firmness of metal beds is critical to ones tastes and preferences. Since metal beds are usually box spring type, they are softer compared to platform beds. If your current bed is quite hard and firm, then box spring type metal beds may be a good solution.

A solid steel metal bed frame provides a long-lasting firm foundation for the bed set. Be sure that the casters on corners and middle of the bed frame are large and heavyweight. A good bed frame should last through several metal beds. Some are adjustable and others are made to fit a particular size of box spring. Just make sure though to replace box springs together with your mattress.

The typical lifespan of a mattress and box spring set is eight to 10 years. Buying the companion box spring with your new mattress ensures that you have a set meant to complement one another.
