If you're anything like me, you've probably heard a lot of talk about a new type of auction called penny auctions in the news and media recently, and one site in particular called Quibids.
Penny auctions work by allowing people to purchase packs of bids which they then can use on brand new products like laptops, handbags, T.V.'s, and even cars (in some cases). All the prices for products start at $0.01 and whenever anyone places a bid, the price is increased by one cent and the countdown timer gets 10 seconds added to it. The last person to place a bid before the auction ends, wins! I wanted to do a review on a penny auction site I recently tried called Quibids...
I signed up to Quibids a month ago and decided to purchase one of their bid packs. I tried to bid on a bunch of different products, including a brand new pair of Oakley sunglasses but after trying and trying I just couldn't win anything. I ended up spending all my bids without actually winning a real product (I did win more bids though, which I ended up losing as well). Their site has too much competition on it.
Since then, I've managed to find several other penny auction sites that have much less competition and I've actually won quite a few new products for myself. So although I didn't like Quibids as a penny auction site, there are many other ones that actually work. My guess is that penny auctions are here to stay and may even change the way auctions are held online!
