Apulia (Puglia) region in Italy forms the eastern most part of the peninsula and has a long coastline, facing the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas.

From the airport there is a local bus service into the centre of Bari and an airport shuttle bus which runs straight to the railway station of Bari. Puglia has another international airport at Brindisi, called Brindisi Casale Airport. Brindisi airport is the closest to the Salento district.
