Lightweight Golf Shoe Features

Yes, lightweight golf shoes are designed for the golfers that love a good walk. There is still a large population of golfers that do like to walk the whole course, especially when they are around places with beautiful scenery. Countries like Scotland or Ireland where it is hilly, green and fresh.

A round of golf walked stretches from around 3 to 4 miles from hole to hole. On average you can walk up to 5 to 7 miles around the whole course, that includes zig zagging across fairways, back and forth treks to hunt down wayward shots.

Lightweight golf shoes have been around for a long time and over the years there have been many improvements, thanks to the advances in materials and designs. These advances sound technical and can make peoples head spin just thinking about them. Lets take a look at what all this technical stuff means.

EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate)

A polymer that approaches elastomeric in softness and flexibility. It is used in a wide variety of products including the majority of shoes and many other sports such as boxing, hockey and ski boots. EVA is inserted as a cushion in many shoe products. EVA is shock absorbent, this makes it perfect for shoes. The substance is so strong it will take nearly forever to wear down.

TPU (thermoplastic urethane)

TPU is durable and flexible and brings stability to the golf swing. It is waterproof, has very good tear strength and makes for a very comfortable experience with this lightweight material.

Sock liners

Sock liners are fashioned similar to socks. They are made from a variety of fabrics and fibers. They help your feet stay warm and dry and offer more stability. These sock liners are worn to reduce swelling and prevent blisters, they also reduce any sensation or pain you might have.

Flexibility

With all these lightweight materials inside, golf shoes are flexible but more importantly they are sturdy and robust. Blisters have been prevented by using EVA and TPU polymers that are used to form soles and in many other areas of the shoe.

Moisture wicking

Waterproof shoes will keep your feet dry from the outside, but what about from the inside?

Moisture wicking is recommended for anyone wearing golf shoes, in fact we would say it is essential for any golfer that wants to have dry feet all day long. There is a special material lining inside that draws the dampness away from the feet. Don't ask how it works, but trust us, this will make your feet feel much more comfortable.

Every major golf shoe company will have at least one lightweight model available and some weighing as little as 13.8 ounces. There are a lot of leather shoes that are very light on your feet, compared to those in the past.

There is not much difference when wearing athletic shoes. The comfort and the light materials around your feet will put a spring in your step. So whether you decide to buy Nike, ECCO, Adidas, FootJoy or any other brands, your feet will thank you for wearing light footwear.
