subject: Valentines Day - Three Great Ways To Celebrate [print this page]

Every year thousands of women find themselves the sudden recipient of candy, flowers and other little tokens of love in the form of Valentines gifts. Now, while the idea of the Valentines Day gift is almost a clich, most women do actually appreciate the gesture. But is it what they really want? When it comes to this day of declaring your love, do you know what kind of Valentines presents you want to give? Perhaps the big question that always comes with this day is the perennial question most men have, what do women really want?

Valentines Day Gift of Passion

No- not that kind of passion. And I dont mean those silly adult store gifts either. We all have something we truly are passionate about, and if this is a real relationship you should know what hers is. That is what passionate valentines gifts show. Does she get lost in a good book? Cry at old romantic movies? Create a charm bracelet for her and inscribe her favorite line from them on her charm. What about a single red rose? Does she love music? Give her a treble clef necklace that shows you understand. Is her idea of a good time to go to a baseball game with you or to go to the museum with you? Take her out for the day and explore those things that click with her. Commemorate the day with a gift that reflects the day and her passion. This is especially true if you dont always share this passion together. If decorating is her passion, find the closest design institute and make a day of it, or a museum of decorative arts. We have a great variety of wonderful decorator pieces like our antique jewelry box that would delight any true designers heart. A true gift is one that you share, so show her you value her passions by being a part of them, even if it is only for this one day.

Create a Token of Your Love

We arent all handy or artsy, but anyone can make some kind of token of your love for a Valentines gift. I have a coat pin made of art clay that is lopsided and kinda funny looking. But I wear it proudly because it was one of those valentines presents made for me with love, and by hand. Perhaps you could pick out a collage of photos of the two of you and your favorite locations, and frame them. How about some heart shaped muffins tins, and you can surprise her with breakfast in bed, made by you? The key is that it is something you are connected with that takes a bit of time to make. Not how much time or how great the finished product is.

Choose a Gift that Reflects Her Personality

Valentines gifts are best if they are a reflection of the person. If she loves to dress with color and style, choose a Valentines Day gift of a hand painted necklace that matches her favorite shirt. Does she love to entertain? How about a table decoration that reflects her sense of humour ? Is her idea of a great time walking through the woods with the dogs? Maybe the best Valentine gift is a warm sweater with a map to her favorite places tucked in the pocket (and some doggie treats!) Valentine presents should reflect the life you lead together and the joy at finding the right person to share it with. There are things she does that warm your heart; let her know what those are. So take the time to find the Valentine Day gift that truly says that you are happy you have found the right person for your life. Strew rose petals on her bed, deck her with silver jewelry or just share a personalized form of her favorite romantic novel. We all feel a need sometimes to be reassured that we are not walking down this path alone. Isnt it lucky that we have created a celebration day that gives us all a chance to express that joy in knowing we are not alone?
