Yet, Wells doesnt simply seek out your sympathy as he explores each of these men and their methods for coping. Instead, he challenges us to think how we can survive these troublesome economic times with dignity intact.
Company Men is filled with some amazing talent: both Jones and Cooper are absolutely flawless in their roles. It is amazing to see the amount of heart that Jones puts into his performance. Nevertheless, the real standout here is Kevin Costner as Maggies brother, Jack. Costner is easily the most accessible character in the film. He channels a terrific spirit of survival that will resonate strongly with audiences.
It is also a pleasure to see Ben Afflecks career grow here. Aside from being a talented director, with Company Men, he has proven himself an enormously talented actor. His portrayal of Bobby is inspired, and the chemistry he shares with DeWitt is excellent. He deftly creates the nucleus of a family that is easy to relate to and root for.
The Company Men, through its stellar performances, will certainly hit close to home for many. As truthful as it is poignant, Wells debut offers hope that we will get through this difficult time all in one piece.The Weinstein Company has unveiled the theatrical trailer for The Company Men, the incredibly bleak corporate-downsizing drama written/directed by John Wells. The film stars a bevy of great actors, lead by Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, Maria Bello and Rosemarie DeWitt. I saw this at Sundance and really enjoyed it, despite being quite bleak and depressing. Brandon reviewed it and gave it 9 out of 10. This trailer definitely stays away from the bleaker side of things, but its a fantastic trailer, I love the music and build up. I really hope this gets a few of you to see it. And ohhh Rosemarie DeWitt, love her!
