If the documentary aims to present the facts of how the conservative lobbyist became the instrument of his own destruction, then Hickenlooper's movie presents his rise and fall as Grand Guignol tragedy. To that end, Kevin Spacey unleashes a chilling portrayal of a man who thought he was bulletproof, simply because "I'm Jack Abramoff and I work out every day." Unfortunately, the film appears to celebrate Abramoff's chutzpah, not indict the moral vacuum that is the real Abramoff.
