Fast Teen Weight Loss - A Smart Approach

Fast Teen Weight Loss - A Smart Approach

When it comes to teen weight loss it is a complicated issue. That's the bottom line. The number one piece of advise is consult a doctor first.

And as far as fast weight loss for a teen I think it depends on two things. What do you define as fast because if it's too fast it can be more unhealthy than being overweight in the first place.

There are two problems with teen weight loss.

Some teens think they need to lose weight when in fact they really don't. Some of them may actually be underweight and still think they need to lose weight.

The second problem is we actually are living in a time where we have the most number of teens and children ever in history that are obese. This is because we eat too much junk food, fast food and processed food. We seem to consume this bad food with a frenzy that would seem our lives depended on it.

That's the irony because it's quite the opposite. Our lives depend on how little of this bad food we eat.

The first thing to do as a teen is establish whether or not you need to actually lose weight. If you've seen your doctor and have ruled out any other medical reasons for being obese then you're among the luckiest of overweight people on the planet.

The good news is as a teenager you're at the best age to start losing weight. As we get older our metabolisms start to slow down. With each year it gets more difficult to shed those extra pounds. At your age though you are strong and healthy and have the most stamina you'll ever have in your life.

If you just walk 30 minutes every day you would start to see the pounds come off pretty fast. Make sure you cut down on the fatty junk food though. Did you get what I just said? Cut down the junk food not cut it out. At your age you can still eat some junk food as long as you're very active. Just don't eat it every day.

Lets look at an example. When it comes to junk food who doesn't love pizza. Does pizza really have to be junk food though? How about trying a whole wheat crust next time? And maybe try a lower fat meat like lean ground beef and fill it up with veggies instead.

Make sure the rest of your meals are balanced out with vegetables and some fruit. If you can start eating healthy now it will set you up well for the rest of your life.
