Wedding MC Planning
Wedding MC Planning

You have been asked to be the MC (also called Master of Ceremonies) at a forthcoming wedding and though you are pleased to be asked at the same time you are also quite nervous because you know that it is an important day and you have not at all been an MC before. Yet, you can do well with a little bit of preparation and effort. However the main for an MC for a wedding is to not wait until the last-minute to get ready.

Hence, you should meet the couple getting married as soon as possible in order that you can begin your arrangements. You should take lots of notes or at least carry something with you to write down some notes. It may help you in your conversation with the couple. As an MC, you have to know how large the wedding is going to be and what the couple quite have in mind. You will need to find out about the reception they have planned and what they expect of you as their Wedding MC. Generally they will have some thoughts which will help you prepare the day accordingly.

You can assume that the bride-to-be will be the one with a lot of thoughts for you. The main task among the several tasks of the Master of Ceremonies is to ensure that the reception runs efficiently from the beginning to end. Moreover, everyone needs to be entertained, which is part of your job as the Wedding MC, though that doesn't mean you have to get up and tell jokes, and in fact, at very traditional weddings, this might not be looked upon highly.

You would like to confirm that all the sound tools are ready and working earlier to the reception. But the band will require time to arrange and perform. Besides, there may be scope for speeches and toasts at the reception; therefore you should confirm that the mics are all working properly before the reception begins. In the formal reception, you would like to help all guests get their way to their seating area with the receiving line.

Lastly, there have to be individual seating for the special guests in the front of the room, near the stage, who will be speaking at the party. Therefore they can easily walk to the microphone as soon as called upon. Once everyone has been seated and are comfortable, take to the mic and let everyone know you are happy they are there and that you are the Master of Ceremonies and welcome everyone including any guests. You can introduce the music, band, the dinner being provided, and everything else of importance. Your main job to remember is that the whole thing should be run efficiently in order that the bride and groom can enjoy their party
