subject: How To Plan Birthday Party For Your Teens [print this page]

Birthday party planning with a party planner is extremely easy and hassle free, whether it's an elaborate affair inclusive of a family get together or a simple family event at home; a party planner provides a guide to help you stay on budget, organized and on schedule. Birthdays are important milestones in the life of children and most teenagers will not have had a birthday without a party, being a social event, it helps them acquire essential social skills and also provides an excellent opportunity for bonding; here are 5 reasons I think you should throw your teens a birthday party to remember.

Set the rules - this is the most important thing to the realization of a successful birthday party. Setting rules also involves delegation of duties and determining who to invite etc. Have all this down in writing so that everyone involved knows what their roles and duties are and avoid disagreements. Comb through the planner one last time delegating duties as you go. Discuss any additional rules with your teens and their party guests. Adopt the policy of open communication with your teens because this will ensure that you have an event to remember rather than a headache.

3 Months Prior to the Birthday Party

Make final decisions such as the size of the party, the venue and security, time to have the party, any rules to be observed, guests to be invited, whether or not to combine this party with a family get together or have the two separately, this questions need to be answered before you do anything else. This is also time to draft a budget, clearly establishing spending limits for your teens - involve your teens in the process to ensure compliance. Allocate money for everything including food, fun activities, and decorations and also venue charges if the party is gonna be hosted away from home.

Decide on the party theme, ideas include pool side or a spa sleepover, search out for more. A theme isn't always necessary but having one is a good way to help the guests and other attendees decide on what to wear, this also sets tone for the event. Make invitations calls. This should be done after you've established the time, venue and date for the party, help your teens in drafting the invitation list complete with phone numbers of potential invitees, reserve a column for marking attendance. Make it clear on the invitation whether the invitee is allowed or not to bring along a guest, this will help in keeping numbers in check.

Party invitations should be send out a week or two earlier, for invitation card you can use the many free templates available on the internet.

The invitation list should be kept by the phone so that anybody can check it off should an invitee call. As a parent of the hosting teens, be prepared to answer any questions other parents may ask. This list should also be available at the party just incase a situation arises and you need the numbers.
