Medicare Stopping People From Changing Doctors

Everyone thinks that when they hit their golden years that they will be covered by Medicare and that will help them take care of their health insurance issues. The only problem is that currently Medicare recipients are finding it increasing difficult to find doctors that will accept them as patients.

Medicare has reduced the amount that they will be paying for office visits and other services and therefore most doctor's won't accept new Medicare patients locking the elderly into the care that they are currently receiving and providing them with no choices as far as their medical care goes.

Being locked into a certain doctor is one thing but not being able to get care is another story. Many people who are reaching Medicare age may be surprised to learn that if they don't have pre-established relationships with doctors and dentists prior to getting onto Medicare then they may be left without care.

With the new payment plan, doctors receive much less when caring for Medicare patients and therefore are unwilling to take on new Medicare patients. It is for this reason that you must establish yourself with doctors and dentists prior to getting approved for Medicare and then once you switch to Medicare you will at least know that you have secured future care for yourself.

Unfortunately the health care and health insurance issues in this country don't just affect a select group of people but are a problem that is effecting the entire population. The current issues with Medicare are just one of the issue effecting this nation but it is a very serious problem as most people who are over the age of 65 are in need of some kind of health services and as they age this need will just continue to grow. It is horrible to think that our nation's elderly will be discriminated against and denied health car merely because our government has made cutbacks to the Medicare system. If there is anyone who needs our help it is the elderly.
