subject: Pregnancy Week 9 [print this page] Pregnancy week by week developments should be discussed right from the stage when a womans body prepares itself by ovulating. In 14 days, the egg is fertilized into sperm. There will be rapid development in week 4, and it is during this stage that a woman realizes that she is pregnant. If you are interested in detailed pregnancy week by week maturity level of the child, then you must have heard that the primitive streak develops and through this primitive streak the cells usually expands into three layers. The bottom layer is responsible for the development of tongue, lung linings, associated glands and tonsils and so on. The middle layer outlines the muscles, heart, blood cells, excretory and reproduction system and so on. And the topmost layer, firms the skin, eye lens, tooth, mouth, anus, skin and all parts of the nervous system.
Pregnancy Week 9-12
It is between the 9th and 12th week that the pregnant womans stomach gets enlarged to make room for her fast developing fetus. She notices a variety of changes in her body. The fetus begins moving inside the mum, though she may not necessarily realize it yet. And by the 12th week, the intensity of morning sickness starts lessening.
Based on the biological developments, the nine long months of pregnancy can be broken down into phases of three months. Whilst you observe your pregnancy week by week your body, per se, remains ignorant of the change for the first three weeks. It is the fourth week that marks the prelude of the elaborate symphony unfolding inside you. That is when you start feeling the morning sickness- the preliminary sign of pregnancy.
Weeks 9 to 14
You should start gaining weight by now. You will notice that you are visiting the toilet too often! The fetus has started developing most of its organs, especially noticeable at the limbs that look like buds! Many side effects of early pregnancy, like morning sickness, will have disappeared. Your baby is growing rather than developing new parts. All the main organs of your baby have been formed. You can hear the heart beat around this time.
Weeks 8 to 10
By week 8 of pregnancy, the baby's heart can be heard through an ultrasound. The sex of the baby is determined at this point, as either testes or ovaries will develop. The mother's uterus is probably the size of a grapefruit by now! This would be a good week for a first prenatal appointment.
On week 9 on a pregnancy calendar, the baby's bones and cartilage begin to form. Arms and legs are developing, as are webbed fingers and thumbs.
By week 10, a pregnant woman will probably start to 'show' as her uterus continues to enlarge and rise. She will also most likely begin to experience bleeding gums and nose, due to the increased volume of blood flow. The baby's tail should have disappeared by now, and he or she will begin moving around in the mother's womb.
