subject: Is Your Weight For Summer Over? [print this page] Well, Spring is in the air and we all know what comes next: swimsuit season. Whoops, I meant summer.
It seems that as soon as Spring hits, people are suddenly very concerned about how they look. It makes sense, of course, because now that the weather is getting warmer, we can't hide our grotesque bodies under long sleeves and baggy winter clothes. We now have to pay the price for indulging in the decadent chocolate and eggnog and all the other Christmas goodies that came our way.
So, what's the most popular weight-loss product out there right now? Biggest Loser's Jillian Michael's products are huge. She has become the Doctor Phil of fitness. People just can't get enough of her. So how is she different from half of the other work out videos out there? She really isn't. She just has that "drill sergeant" persona that people respond to so well. I don't mean to discredit her, because she really takes you through a great work out that will make you sweat and feel phenomenal afterwards. I would just like to point out that we, as a society, seem to be easily led by fads.Of course, fitness fads have been common since the fifties. They have simply changed from year to year, along with the standards of what it means to be considered "fit" or "pretty".
Just legs and hair. Then the in the later eighties and into the nineties, it was more about real fitness. A lady might have more beef on her so long as she was toned and athletic- looking. After that timeframe and into today, we have once more entered the "thin " trend.
After that time-frame and into today, we have once more entered the "skinny " trend. Though I suspect the show the largest Loser has given us a better point of view of how beauty is only skin deep, I also can't help thinking that their competitors should be just a little modified. Each time I watch that show, I feel like they deserve to be judging by fat p.c.
Each time I watch that show, I feel a bit like they need to be judging by body fat % rather than just weight. I say this just because towards the end of this competition is when it becomes truly intense, and it might be so easy for one of the competitors to lose pounds in more unhealthy techniques ,eg starvation. I don't say that these competitors actually do this, I'm making an attempt to say the show would be promoting final healthfulness if they gaged peoples's progression in this demeanour. Anyway, to celebrate our imminent summer and everybody's concern for how they'll look in their bikinis, I just wish you all ecstatic dieting and active exercising! Good luck to fitting into the new swimming suit you are eying. Personally, I'm just going to target eating right and keeping up my fitness programme. If I look bad at the pool, just look the other way and appreciate the Baywatch protege on the opposite side.
