So why do some people fail to lose weight permanently? Well this can seem like a simple question with easy answers.
They didnt follow their diet.
They didnt exercise.
They quit.
Whatever
What you want to ask yourself and maybe you dont even know the answer but you want to ask yourself why.
When the answer came into my consciousness I was able to fully understand why Ive been successful keeping my weight down and also why Ive had success with clients that have lost weight and kept it off.
So what is the answer youre wondering? Why do some people lose weight permanently while others fail?
Drum roll please
People that lose weight have a core desire to do it and those who dont lose weight simply dont share the same level of desire. This can be linked to self image because if your image of yourself is good then your desire to improve is automatically strong. You cannot live working against your self image. The person you are in all aspects of your life flows from your self image.
The only time in your life when you will take action until you succeed is when your desire level is a 10 on a scale of 10. There is no room wavering. It cannot be a half a%d effort or even a 80 % effort. It has to be 100% focus and desire to accomplish the goal.
The sad truth with some people is that when they go on new diet or start taking a new magic pill what theyve bought is hope. One of my favorite books is Hope is Not A Method! Read that statement again so it sinks in. You need to realize hope is for the undecided. Hope does not generate the level of commitment and desire necessary to achieve your goal. You need 100% commitment and desire.
Thats why some people fail to lose weight and keep it off. Their commitment level is not where it needs to be. If youre one of these people dont get frustrated you simply need to change your approach. What youve been doing is not working but you can change it.
