subject: Blepharoplasty Plastic Surgery [print this page]

How a person perceives how they look and how others think they look can affect that person's entire life. It can change whether or not they are hired for jobs, if they are confident enough to pursue hobbies and talents, and their attitude toward life.

As a result, cosmetic surgery has grown in size and developed in the number and quality of procedures they are able to offer. One of these many procedures is blepharoplasty.

Blepharoplasty is the reconstruction of the upper and lower eyelids through cosmetic surgery. During this procedure excess tissue is removed and repositioned while nearby muscles and tendons are reinforced.

Another, more common name for this is an eyelid lift. This procedure can be used to remove excess skin on the eyelid, but it is typically used for reducing skin below the eye.

This reduction of skin effectively gets rid of wrinkles and puffy bags under the eyes. Blepharoplasty makes one appear younger and less tired.

This surgery does not take very long relatively. A patient is usually done with the procedure in three hours.

Swelling and bruising are common side effects of the surgery, but these symptoms generally disappear after two weeks. Complete recovery is not usually achieved until a few months after surgery.

Blepharplasty has several specialized procedures within it. Various procedures are in more demand in various parts of the world.

The first specialized procedure is known as Asian blepharoplasty. This is also known as double eyelid surgery.

As indicated by the name, Asian blepharoplasty has high demand in East Asian, with a particular emphasis on Taiwan. East Asians are generally born without an eyelid crease, but they would prefer to have one.

Another specialized procedure is known as transconjunctival blepharoplasty. In this specialized procedure the surgeon starts by making an incision in the back of the eyelid and takes out the lower eyelid fat.

This procedure is designed simply to remove fat, and not skin. However, the eye will heal much faster because the procedure is only one cut.

As a small mistake could drastically change how you look and your appearance it is important that you find a cosmetic surgeon you can trust. Talk to friends, family, and various offices until you are confident in your choice.

By talking to several cosmetic surgeons, you will be able to determine if your decided course of action is the best. It is also important to see pictures of the doctor's work.

Check to make sure that the cosmetic surgeon of choice has earned all of his credentials, licenses, and degrees through formal United States schooling. Some doctors earned their credentials at a school in Mexico or another country.

Since the standards of schools in different countries vary it is important to find a cosmetic surgeon who studied at a school in the United States. You could trust doctors who studied at countries very similar to the United States, such as England.

However, make sure you are comfortable with your doctor performing the procedure. The best doctors will charge more for their services because they will have more demand.

In a case like cosmetic surgery, this is not the time when you want to skimp of paying for the best services. After the surgery is done, you will not want to regret it.

It does not take very much time to do the necessary research to find a good cosmetic surgeon in comparison to the time it would take for a repair job, not to mention the extra money. There are plenty of excellent, professional, and friendly cosmetic surgeons out there to select from.

Once you find the perfect cosmetic surgeon you will be able to rest assured that you are safe in his or her hands. You will be able to walk out of his or her office with high quality results that you will love for the rest of your life.
