The purest at heart will be doing your ankle exercises in expectation of the forthcoming workout you'll be getting dancing up and down your 600's gearbox. And the smartest of you all will be thirstily awaiting the delivery of your latest 750. As seems to be the norm these days, there is virtually no difference in appearance among the 2004 GSX-R 750 and its young brother.

Indeed, peel the art off and even the cognoscenti would be stuck to say the difference. Both sport the recent in radial calipers (more on which later) bolted to severe looking upside down forks. Both have also stacked headlights and a latest LED tail light, and both have also classy black frames with very meaty swingarms. In fact, the just visible difference is the tacho, which redlines at a pedestrian 14,000rpm on the 750 as opposed to the frenetic 15,500rpm of the 600. So it could come as some surprise to hear that these two outwardly near selfsame bikes give a massively distinct riding experience.
As shortly as you press the button the 750 seems a lot of further purposeful. Despite the enormous exhaust may with its inbuilt catalyst, there is a pleasing edge to the noise. Induction roar is further apparent too, and a brief blip on the throttle exposes the equivalent difficult edged bark that the former 750 had. Now bearing in mind that this bike is a dealer demonstrator and included only five miles on the clock when I collected it, the motor unruffled spun thirstily and promised lots of fun after a couple miles loosening up.

It goes without saying that a 750 will propose quite further bottom end and midrange than a 600, and this is no exception. Despite the engine modifications, which all point towards arch end rush quite than flexibility, the latest GSX-R is extremely rideable, with plenty of impulse throughout the ready rev range (nominally only half the entire range for the foremost functional in period) and a very solid hint of phenomenal performance only the other side of that initial 7,000 rpm functional in threshold. By the end of the test we'd managed to accumulate decent miles to allow things to hot up a bit and things got very interesting indeed. And not only at the arch end either, however ability does build very distinctly as things begin turning quicker. But what causes the GSX-R 750 so effective is the power to ride unfamiliar roads flying and safely without having to be totally committed.
Unfortunately, it unruffled suffers from the GSX-R curse of surging on/off throttle carburetion. This amplifies the reduced flywheel effect and relatively lackluster lowly end ability to cause leaving a stop light, riding via a sluggish corner or negotiating traffic fewer enjoyable. This bike loves to rev, though, especially when taken above 7500 or 8000 rpm, and is a lot of happier erst the road opens up a little. Although unruffled way short of being amply run in, this is a very prompt bike indeed.
