Construction Injuries

Working on a construction site contains several inherent dangers. Working with big machinery, power tools, and unstable structures create the possibility for serious accidents to occur; however, with proper training and safety precautions, most injuries should be avoidable. Unfortunately, some construction companies try to "cut corners," which can compromise the safety of workers and passersby.

Accidents

Construction companies have a legal obligation to ensure that their workers receive adequate training, heed all safety precautions, and service their equipment regularly. Failure to do any of the following may result in any of the following accidents:
Construction Injuries

Construction equipment malfunction- Failure to maintain equipment can result in crane collapse, scaffolding collapse, or electrocution accidents

Elevated falls-More than 1/3 of all fatal construction site accidents are due to elevated falls.

Slip and fall accidents-Tripping hazards, such as chords or walkway obstructions, can cause works to trip and fall, resulting in a variety of injuries

Head and brain injury-Falling objects can cause head or brain injury if they strike a person, even if they are wearing a hard-hat

Amputations-Improper use of construction site tools can result in amputations

Exposure to toxic substances-Inhaling toxic fumes without proper protection can cause a variety of diseases, especially targeting the lungs

Lifting injuries-Improper training in lifting techniques can result in chronic neck or back injuries

Repetitive motion injuries-Repetitive motion injuries are one of the most common causes for workers' compensation claims. Frequently, repetitive motion injuries manifest as tendonitis, carpal tunnel, or bursitis.

Wrongful death

Construction Company Negligence

Construction site fatalities comprise more than 20% of all workplace fatalities, and 10% of all workplace injuries, making the construction industry the largest contributor to workers' compensation claims. In order to ensure the safety of their workers as well as the public, construction companies must provide training for their employees, meet all safety codes, and regularly maintenance their equipment. Failure to do so may make them liable for any injuries that occur.

If you or someone you know has been injured while working on a construction site, you may be eligible to receive compensation for your losses. Consult an experiences attorney about your grounds for filing a legal claim, as you may be able to receive compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and, in extreme cases, the wrongful death of a loved one.
