subject: Stillages The Perfect Answer To Every Pub Managers Problems [print this page]

Have you ever thought about taking a different route, becoming your own boss, working your own hours and reaping the rewards? If you have then why not become a pub manager, the hours can be highly demanding, but the rewards can be equally as high.

One thing that a lot of people don't plan on when taking over a pub is the arrangement of the basement. Why is organising the basement such an important job? Well if you arrange the basement correctly then you avoid any accidents with kegs.

One simple way to organise the basement is with the use of stillages. If you take the time to perform a quick search on Google you will quickly be confronted by a number of firms that can supply you with stillages for your pub basement or backroom. Ideally when you have received your kegs you don't want to be moving them all over the place, if you do with certain ales or beers you could cause the sediment in the bottom of the barrel to move around and spoil the contents.

Another thing to consider is which type you would like to get for your basement. If you are looking at storing ales then it would be better to store these on their side which means you would be better to look at wall or floor mounted stillages that the barrels can rest securely in.

If you are looking at using lager or beer kegs then you would be better to look at floor mounted standing stillages. These are effective like cages that the keg barrels can be placed in securely. It just helps to keep your basement clean and tidy and also it will help to keep your staff members safe if they have to venture down to change a keg.

Health and safety is a huge issue at present and as a pub manager your insurance premiums will already be fairly high. By taking all the relevant safety precautions you can help to lower what you might have to pay and you can also reduce your own liability in the event of an accident.

Some of the stillages will come with a catch tray underneath that will catch any spilt beer, lager or ale and avoid any nasty injuries that could be caused by slipping on spilt liquid.

Running a pub can be a fantastic business opportunity to get into but you need to make sure that when you do it you have made the proper adequate preparations.
