What to pack for a weekend in the country

With summer finally here, city workers across the UK will be looking to take advantage of the warm weather, using the weekends to experience country life.

But ladies rather than waste time checking numerous bags into country hotels, do some careful planning which will ensure you pack light, but look great.

For a weekend away you really only need to pack a few essentials and by choosing the right items, you will be able to keep nice and warm during summer evening walks, yet fashionable for meals in the country pub.

So how do you go from city glam to country chick? Easy. Start by packing a simple skirt and some straight leg jeans. If they can be paired with heels and a fitted jacket for the office, then they can be teamed with flip flops and a loose t shirt during the summer months.

A floaty summer dress with a light cardigan or shrug is ideal for days when it is bright, but there's a breeze. Maxi Dresses are everywhere this season, with designs available to suit every taste. Whether you want a dress of plain, block colour or you would prefer an intricate, multi-coloured design, you are sure to find a style that suits you.

If dresses aren't really your thing, why not opt for the classic vest with a pair of shorts. Whether you want pleated shorts, cross front shorts, belted short or just plain denim, there are plenty of styles for you to choose from. Teamed with a vest or an over sized t shirt, these items will help give your weekend a holiday feel.

Shoes! Every girl loves her shoes, but don't bring more than a few pairs. If you are planning on doing a lot of walking, walking shoes or trainers are probably best. If not, pumps or flip flops should do the trick. If you are planning a night out then bring a pair of heels, but choose a pair that can be matched up with items already in your case.
