For example, some asanas would require you to do inverted postures like headstands. If you suffer from an ear problem or hypertension, doing such exercises can be harmful to your health.

Selecting a good yoga instructor also needs to be done very carefully. The instructor should be sensitive to your limitations. But you need to tell your instructor about any health problems that you are suffering from. On the basis of that information, your instructor would devise a special program involving only the exercises that are suitable for you.
