And what's more, the people are nice too! Here are some of the most amazing places to visit in this beautiful country:

The Victoria Falls is the world's biggest waterfall, at 111m high and 1701m wide. It is also one of the most beautiful. The huge volume of water plunging down from this sheer cliff face produces a thunderous roar and sends jets of spray into the air that can be seen from a distance of twenty miles. Locally, the falls are known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, which literally means 'the smoke that thunders'.

The biggest river in Zambia, the Zambezi, is over two and a half thousand miles long, running from the Kalene Hills out to the Indian Ocean, and is surrounded by some of the most spectacular sights to be seen on this, or indeed any other planet! The river encompasses the the Barote Flood Plain, site of the Lozi people's exuberant annual Kuomboka ceremony, the peaceful and history-rich Lake Kariba, wild Victoria Falls, and the devastatingly deep Batoka Gorge. If you love nature, you'll go ape for the sights you can see along the lower Zambezi.

It's not just the natural geography and wildlife that make Zambia a photographer's dream, though! Zambia is home to the largest open-cast copper mine in the world, The Nchanga Open Pit.

For many people, though, the main appeal of Zambia is the fact that it is home to vast, unspoiled areas of pristine wilderness, populated by some of the most savage, beautiful and exotic wildlife to be found anywhere in the world. Forget all the safari parks and zoos that you've ever been to, because Zambia is the real deal! If you've ever wanted to see animals such as leopards, rhinos, elephants, lions, and giraffes living as nature intended, Zambia is a must-see. And that's not all - with the naked eye alone you can watch herds of wildebeests migrate in Liuwa Park, huge crowds of Antelope in the Kafue Fats and Busanga plains and all manner of unique, exotic avian life, such as the rare shoebill stork, saddle-bill storks, egrets, vultures, wood ibis, crested cranes, and many more at the Bird Sanctuary in Lochinvar.

If you're serious about extreme sports, then you'll probably know all about Livingstone town and the surrounding area already. However, if you don't, then you might be intrigued by the possibility of being able to do activities such as 4x4 off road driving, abseiling, fishing, river safari, skiing, bungee jumping, river boarding, micro-light and helicopter flights over the Victoria Falls, elephant-back safari, white water river-rafting, and much more, all in one spectacular setting.
