The Irish Clements Brothers settled in what is known as the Booubyjan Homestead. Located near Goomeri, the brothers began in 1847 with sheep and eventually cattle on this property. This homestead is open daily for touring and a glimpse at the early years of Queensland's settlers. Brisbane Forest Park is unique to most attractions and is rare in the fact that it offers pristine waterfalls, rainforest, deep swimming pools, mountain streams, forests and trees. The small settlement of Mt. Glorious is home to many walking trails and just 10km further is Wivenhoe lookout with views of Lake Wivenhoe.
The Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre in Brisbane Forest Park features a freshwater creek environment populated with water dragons, frogs, platypuses, pythons and fish. The Australian Woolshed, just past Samford re-creates life on sheep station .Shearing demonstrations, ram shows and cattle-dog demonstrations are staged daily, while native animals roam freely around the property.
The Daisy Hill State Forest is a eucalypt forest and acacia scrub. Located just 25 kilometers south of Brisbane, here visitors can search the tree canopy for koalas, comfortably perched in a treetop tower. The Daisy Hill Koala Centre in the central picnic area offers much information about koalas and their native habitat.
