The premise is that one should eat grains, fruits and vegetables in order to get the right amount of nutrients for the body. This is actually a great approach on diet as long as the person takes in the full complement of food types. However, if you start concentrating on the percentage demands without actually caring about what foods you get it from, then an imbalance could happen. Fact is that calorie is not just calorie and there is a difference between one taken from a vegetable and one taken from processed food.

The Low Carbohydrate Diet

Another fad diet you may have heard of is the low carbohydrate diet which basically promotes the small sized consumption of carbohydrates. The premise here is that low carbohydrates mean low insulin production, resulting to the lessened amount of fat build-up. This is because the carbohydrates will be used for energy rather than be stored up as extra flab in your body. The bad side of this is that a lowering of carbohydrate amounts in the body can result to serious conditions since the body needs specific amounts to operate smoothly. People who have tried out this diet actually experienced weight loss but later gained it back because of the diet itself being ineffective in the long run.

Another fad diet is the low fat approach to eating. Much like the low carbohydrate, it could mean a huge imbalance in a person's system, resulting to harmful effects that may later be irreparable.

What it boils down to is that these fad diets definitely have some holes in them that make them a wrong choice for long term weight loss. Although they may be able to provide the wanted results for the first few weeks, the next ones are bound fail. Hence, you should try looking out for a healthier diet plan or rather, switch to a better one after trying out the fad diet and shedding off a few pounds.
