Organising Your Wedding Day
Organising Your Wedding Day

We all know planning a wedding can be hard work. To start with, it is supposed to be your perfect day, so you need to work out exactly what you want.

Often there are other people too though who have vested interests in your day. There are your immediate family and inlaws who want a say. This can be particularly delicate if parents are involved who have contributed to your wedding. As soon as parents pay, they believe it buys them a say. So you need to bring them into the process.

Then there are other family members and friends, egos that must be satisfied. When it comes to your day, many family members and friends decide they are the most iportant people in your life and therefore, must be have key involvement. These expectations must be managed if your day is to run with the harmony you deserve

From people to features, you need to work out how to organise all the bits and pieces that will make your celebration work. From receptions and celebrants, from ceremonies to bridal gowns, it all must be taken care of. When starting the organisation of your special day, the early stages can make you feel like you are stuck in traffic! Urrggh, it can be so frustrating.

Organising a wedding though is all about building blocks. You work out what you want, then what you need to make it happen. Each incremental requirement is a building block. You line them all up and take care of them one by one. All of a sudden, your perfect day starts to come together, you start to see this, shed the mantle of frustration and start to enjoy the exhiliration and anticipation as the happiest day in you life approaches.

So do not get frustrated. To use the colloquialism, just line up your ducks and knock them over one by one. Write them down or put them in a spreadsheet. Planning a wedding is not organising one massive and intimidating task, it is planning and organising many small, manageable tasks. Keep that in mind too that the organising takes months, the wedding is only a day. So enjoy the process too and make the journey one you will never forget.
