subject: From Hydraulic Jacks To Hoist Rings An Overview Of Load Moving Systems [print this page]

Hydraulic moving systems have been available for many years, operating under tried and trusted systems little changed from the originals proof of their effectiveness.

Load moving systems come in many shapes and sizes, moving everything from white goods to industrial machinery. Today, there is a particular need to be eco-friendly, and using a hydraulic jack keeps the companys carbon footprint small.

The hydraulic jacks used in warehouses and industrial sites are very different to those used on cars. Over the years they have been developed to do specific tasks. For example, in the 1970s moving skates were developed that could lift and transport the same heavy loads as forklifts but in a far more eco-friendly and versatile way. Today, these can lift in excess of 100 tonnes and, unlike a forklift, dont need a drivers licence.

Perhaps the most innovative design of the last 20 years has been the toe jack a specialised hydraulic jack designed to lift extremely heavy machinery within a small area. The toe refers not to the operating method, but to the fact the lifting area of the jack is a relatively small toe. For big, heavy loads many people automatically think fork lift, but this is not always the best answer: lack of manoeuvrability, confined spaces, uneven ground or lack of a trained driver being four common fork lift disadvantages.

At HTS Direct, we have been making specialised load moving systems since the 1970s, and can supply solutions for diverse situations.
