subject: A Bride Diet Does Not Include Diet Coke! [print this page]

Diet sodas and other so called diet drinks may be one of the worst things you can do for your bride diet. Diet drinks are sweetened with artificial sweeteners. Some of these include Splenda, aspartame, acesulfame-K, saccharin and sucralose.

There have been studies done that prove consuming artificially sweetened beverages in diet sodas will result in a higher calorie intake during the day. This is in comparison to the control groups, who consumed only moderate amounts of full-calorie sugar-sweetened sodas.

Artificial sweeteners are actually many times sweeter than sugar itself. That means your brain thinks it is getting something sweet and will act accordingly, sending out all the signals to the body as if you had consumed that much sugar. This will deter any weight loss on your bride diet. If there is one thing you do not want, it is to make it harder on yourself to lose weight for the wedding!

Artificial sweetener is actually much sweeter to your taste buds than real sugar. This fools your brain into thinking you are consuming a high amount of sugar. Then a hormone called insulin is produced to accommodate that sugar. But the insulin finds that there is not actually any real sugar to deal with. So it tells your brain: "Hey! We need some sugar down here!" Your brain then tells your tummy to fill itself with sugary goodness! Instead of sticking to your bride diet, you want a sweet snack!

It is important in any bride diet to lose your dependency on sugar. But artificial sweeteners actually teach your tongue to need more sweet tasting things than before. This just makes keeping the weight off impossible in the long run.
