subject: Dishwasher Buying Guide Which Model Is Right For You? [print this page]

Washing dishes for one person is easily done but washing dishes for an entire family can take far too much time and effort, with many households now having both parents in work then it can often be the case that no one has the time or the energy to wash the dishes, pots and pans when they get in from work. Luckily there are now appliances that can handle this task for us, dishwashers.

Dishwashers can handle a large amount of plates, bowls and cutlery, enough for even the larger families with six or more occupants. With multiple racks and many that can be reconfigured you can even fit pots and pans including larger woks in to a common dishwasher to help handle any burnt or stuck on dirt that may be on them.

Not all households have the room for a dishwasher as well as the other vital appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and cookers. There are smaller or space saving versions available though that can help you fit a dishwasher in even the smallest of kitchens. Whilst they may be smaller than most standard dishwashers they may only hold smaller amounts of dishes which can be good for smaller households but for most households of four people or more will really need to get a regular sized dishwasher so that you can save money on energy usage as all of your dishes are washed in one go.

There are some dishwashers that come as one large cavity as well as other types that are two separate drawers; this type can be a bit more expensive than regular models. The second type can come as one or two drawer models but they can be better if you only have half a load to wash, rather than waiting for the large dishwasher to get full you can get your smaller amount done quickly in one of the dish drawers which should use less energy and water than the larger regular dishwashers.

There are a lot of dishwashers available these days and considering that it has been found that dishwashers use on average 6 gallons less than washing by hand you could bring your water bills down considerably. This coupled with the fact temperatures inside a dishwasher can reach much higher levels means dirt and food is easily dissolved and removed, something that merely rinsing in the sink using the same dirty water and sponge cant match.
