subject: Observe The Right Diet For Yeast Infection [print this page]

A common notion in yeast infection is that it is a sexually transmitted disease and nothing more. However, there are several factors that can add up to yeast infection. Some of these factors include diabetes, use of contraceptive pills, approaching menstrual period, intake of oral steroids, using hygiene products and using damp and tight clothing. There are available medications for a yeast infection but a simple solution overlooked by many is having the proper diet.

A yeast infection diet involves a lot of detoxification as what they like to call it. Yeast infection is brought about by a rapid growth of microorganisms called Candida albicans. Various diets are suggested but when it is strictly followed, you can be sure of relief with just three weeks from the time of the implemented diet.

One important element of the proper diet is drinking sufficient water daily. Water plays a great role in the process of detoxing. It removes the toxins in our bodies. You can also add in fresh fruit juices and green tea with your liquid diet. But it is still essential to drink no less than eight glasses of water everyday.

Eating fresh food is also vital in the process. It is advisable to avoid eating too much fatty foods and processed goods for the benefit of your holistic health. You should also have your food cooked just right since heat removes some of the food nutrients and even more are reduced when the food is overcooked. The ideal way of cooking your food is by steaming or sauteing it. You do not need to cook vegetables as they can be eaten raw however, certain sweet vegetables should be avoided such as onions, sweet potatoes, corn, carrots and potatoes.

Eat large amounts of garlic as they have antibacterial properties that aid in stopping the growth of yeast. Restrict the amount of meat you will eat and focus more on vegetables. Eggs, poultry, lamb, fish and beef can still be eaten but with control. It has been noted that the amount of meat you will eat should be only about half of your palm's size. If you eat more than that, the digestive organs will be worn out in the process.

Sometimes we cannot help ourselves in eating the food we like to have. It is okay to eat them as long as they are not to be taken in excess and only consumed in small amounts. You might consider adding yogurt to your diet too.

Condiments such as virgin olive oil and sea salt are fine to use in your diet. There are no restrictions with the use of olive oil. You can use fresh ginger in your diet which makes a fine addition to dishes such as soups, meat dishes, tofu and salads. It is good for your digestion as a whole aside from treating the infection.

A vital step to take in treating yeast infection is having a good diet. You should always be in top shape in hygiene and with your choice of food.
