subject: Day 9: Waiting For My HCG Diet Kit [print this page] You remember Lisa, don't you? She's the friend that I pressured into doing the HCG diet along with me. We're still waiting for our HCG Diet kits so in the mean time we've been reading up on the HCG diet protocol. In our reading we've found a few things to worry about.
There are tons of different postings regarding the matter, but the problem is that many of them contradict each other. Lisa and I have agreed to disagree when it comes to the protocol until we actually get our HCG diet protocol in the mail along with our products in the HCG diet kit.
But I cannot help but whip through some of the available information online and take note of a couple of the items that are jumping out at me as troublesome issues: berries, substitutions, ground meat, diet pop and Crystal Light.
I will begin by whining about the possible lack of Diet Pop and Crystal Light. REALLY? Seriously no diet pop or Crystal Light? That's what I read, anyway. A few of the online hot spots I read back in the day pointed to their "twice daily diet pop" and their constant consumption of Crystal Light as their salvation while they stayed away from sugar and ate very limited fruit. And I totally saw how that would be me.
I mean, if I can't have a giant sugar cookie slathered in cream cheese frosting...I better have my hands wrapped around a diet soda or SOMETHING! But I'm going to put a pin in that and revisit it when the actual protocol confirms my suspicions.
I'm also studying the fact that ALL berries are not approved. All those tasty berries out there appear so fantastic and healthy yet it appears that only strawberries are approved on the diet. At least that's what I'm getting from the majority of the blogs, etc. that I'm running across.
I also read about ground meat. Apparently it's a definite "no-no." That makes sense so I bet it's right. I'm just going to have a difficult time telling my little brother the next time he hosts one of his frequent grilling nights for the fam. He's a hunter and he's so proud of the fact that the ground meat he uses for his burgers actually comes from his own hard work! He's got a freezer full of ground meat of all sorts and it's always very good. I guess I will have to bring my own tiny steak or something. And he'll just have to accept my apologies for purchasing my own meat.
The last thing I find myself stressed about is the fact that some of the blogs were talking about the fact that you aren't supposed to "substitute." For instance, I figured that if I didn't eat my fruit during lunch and dinner I could have it for a late night snack or always keep a bit of fruit portion set aside for breakfast.
But I read a couple complaints and/or reprimands from different dieters about this specific theory. Basically...I guess I just have to suck it up and wait it out. When the instruction manual get heres I will study it from front to back and learn the rules and then follow them; mostly because I think it would be awesome to lose 25 to 50 pounds in 25 days and also because if I follow the rules perfectly that means my dieting buddy, Lisa, will owe me a brand new pair of jeans. I'm thinking I want a new pair of Big Stars or maybe a nice pair of MEKs.
