Dampness is always a major concern for many people. Sometimes you have a visible damp, but at times hiding damp begins to develop unseen and is of great concern. There are many places in one house which are not noticed regularly. Development of fungus and moisture on those places will definitely results in the raising some heath issues. The major cause of dampness is moisture. This excessive moisture paved the path for dampness and fungus. Presence of moisture in the home atmosphere can be due to many reasons. Masking the rising damp is one of the most used conventional methods. This method is used to dry line an internal wall with plasterboard assembled on a batten frame. Dry line means to separate a moist air mass from a dry air mass. Dry line creates a space between a lining and a wall. This method can also be used for infiltrating damp. However, this method is expensive and is not suggested for most of the time. It is better to find another solution before attempting this one. You have to keep some facts in mind while using dry line method. Batten frame used to hold the plasterboard should be treated with wood preservatives, and fungicides should be used on the board and infected wall.

Cavity wall insulation

Cavity wall insulation is another way to prevent the rising damp in hidden areas. You can seek help from companies offering their services to provide you with cavity wall insulation. What these companies do is they fill the cavity wall with insulation material to prevent the heat loss from your house. If your walls have any signs of dampness, they will not insulate it. If your walls show any sing of dampness after the being insulated, immediately contact the company.

NHBC Guarantee

National House Building Council (NHBC) usually provide guarantee against structural defects to the houses which are less than 10 years old. If you see any damp spot in the home, contact the builder before apply any remedy to it. If you find the measures adopted by the builder unsatisfactory, the best way is to seek help from NHBC.
