subject: The Beauty Of Life Along The Hudson [print this page]

The Hudson Valley, famed for its exquisite scenery and American historical sites, is not merely a popular tourist spot but also home to year round New Yorkers living in beautiful, quiet neighborhoods. Many people have passed through the Valley on their way to New York City, but if you're in the market for a picturesque town to settle down, the Hudson Valley has much to offer the prospective buyer.

The Hudson River Valley stretches from the northern outskirts of New York City up to Albany, the state's capital. These approximately 175 miles that make up the Valley are divided into the Upper Hudson Valley, or capital region, the Mid-Hudson Valley region and the Lower Valley.

The Hudson Valley's rich American and native heritage both attracts visitors from out of state and entertains locals. The Valley's history begins with the native Mohican and Munsee tribes, called as the River Indians, who lived in the Valley well before Europeans arrived in the early 1600s. These original Europeans were Dutch and to this day the region's traditions and cultures deeply reflect this early Dutch influence.

The natural beauty of the Hudson River Valley has garnered comparisons to Germany's famous Rhine River. Indeed, a thirty mile section on the Hudson River's eastern bank has been designated a National Historic Landmark and draws new residents and tourists alike. Due to its popularity among tourists and its proximity to Manhattan, the Hudson River Valley hosts dozens of festivals each year. From historical to 21st Century, these events celebrate the Hudson Valley's culture and background.

While many people only know the Hudson River Valley as a vacation area, many families and individuals are drawn to the Valley because of the safety. The neighborhoods that make up the towns in the Hudson Valley are some of the safest in the USA. Couple this with active local heritage and unspoiled natural surroundings, and Hudson Valley is clearly an ideal spot for tourists and prospective residents alike.
