Britney, JBritney, J. Lo, Christina Aguilera, even (gasp!) Star Jones. These red-carpet brides - and what they wear on their wedding day - are influencing women awaiting their turn in front of the paparazzi (er, wedding photographer).

"A lot of what girls are looking at, unfortunately, is the red carpet. It can be good and tasteful. Or bad," says Juli Alvarez, fashion editor at Modern Bride magazine.

Case in point is the celeb-inspired two- Silver PVC Front Open Catsuit phenomenon: one gown for the ceremony, another for the reception. So now you have two costume zentai you'll never wear again?

Not quite, at least according to style mavens.

"The tried-and-true classic ball gown is stronger than ever," says Hilary Sterne, author of the book InStyle Weddings, and deputy editor for InStyle magazine's special issues.

At the ceremony, this classic look satisfies the princess-for-a-day fantasies: strapless, multiple layers of underskirts, a long sweeping train. Dramatic, attention-getting.

But come the reception, after stomachs have settled and nerves have subsided, it's time to party. And who wants to look like a satin-skirted Liberty Bell dinging your way through Destiny's Child?

"Brides feel silly in structured gowns, cutting loose on the dance floor," adds Sterne.

Enter the comfortable second costume zentai. If the ceremony costume zentai is a stiletto, this would be a flip-flop. No constricting corset tops, no yards of fabric to lug around for people to step on. No Spanx required.

"Jennifer Lopez wore a Vera Wang gown [for her wedding to Marc Anthony], then changed into a beige Dolce and Gabbana mini- Silver PVC Front Open Unisex Catsuit," Sterne says.

She ticks off a list of stars who have done the same, including Kimberly Williams-Paisley; Selma Blair; and Melania Knauss, who donned a 50-pound beaded Christian Dior gown to wed The Donald last year, "then she changed into a pretty chiffon Vera Wang for her poolside reception. It was a 180 from the ceremony."

"Choose something slinky or short for the reception," advises Alvarez. "Having a second sexy costume zentai is the way to go."

Petite chanteuse Christina Aguilera swapped the cumbersome Christian Lacroix she wore for her November 2005 nups to Jordan Bratman for a white minicostume zentai, the better to serenade her guests in.

But a second Two Way Zipper PVC Unisex Catsuit isn't just for brides-on-no-budget. Mere mortals can afford two costume zentai and not shortchange flowers or favors. They needn't shop at bridal salons, either (although David's is a good source for short, flirty A-lines for about $300). Dig the J.Crew catalog out of the recycling bin. Their slim, ivory silk costume zentai (reminiscent of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in Narciso Rodriguez) is $295; shorter silk tricotine or silk faille costume zentai - tea or cocktail length - are $195 to $295. Not budget-busting by any means.

Sterne believes the two-costume zentai trend is a throwback to the going-away outfits that the mothers and grandmothers donned. "It presents a different image of you: Here I am as a married person." (Of course, today's brides aren't choosing conservative cream-colored suits and matching gloves.)
