Providing Insurance For My Courier: My Responsibility, Or Not?

Providing Insurance For My Courier: My Responsibility, Or Not?

When you're using a courier to transport your goods

, one of the best things about the experience is that the responsibilities that come with transporting a product become their issues to deal with rather than yours. Trying to keep your own delivery staff within your own company is generally very impractical except in rare cases, so most people instead will use a company like their Albuquerque courier to move their goods for them. What most people want to know though is if there are still things which are their responsibility, such as the purchase of insurance for their driver.

Insurance is definitely one of those things that a client of a courier company should not have to worry about. When you hire a courier company to move your goods for you, it should go without saying that the responsibilities of this type are going to be theirs to look after. This certainly includes obtaining adequate insurance both for the driver of the courier vehicle and for the goods themselves.

Those are the two primary types of insurance which they courier company will be carrying. They will have a regular commercial driver and vehicle policy in place so that their assets are protected and so that they are shielded from liability in the event of any kind of accident which involves one of their courier drivers. They will add on to that though a type of insurance which will cover the prices of your goods which are being carried by the courier company.

When a courier takes out an insurance policy on goods of that type, it covers almost every situation which might cause damage to the packages that they are carrying. Damage that might be caused by a car crash, by water either from a sprinkler system or from the weather, or damage caused by courier negligence such as dropping the package should all be insured against.

Anything which would cause the package to become lost should also be insured against. So if the package was delivered to the wrong house, lost in a terminal, or lost track of in any other way, it would be covered by the insurance being carried by the courier company. The only time that you should have to worry about buying any kind of insurance is if you decide that the total value of the policies which are in place through the courier company are not providing enough insurance compared to the value of your goods.
