Positive Parenting - Finding Clever Ways To Navigate Through Growing Up

Sometimes, we as parents, pass on things to our children without even noticing

, and that makes the job extremely problematic. A person's personality is a good example, since everyone is different, with their many diverse traits.

Since all people have unique experiences as well as personalities, when they are all mixed together, the result is quite an interesting dynamic. As interesting as this is with only one person, what will it be like with a spouse and children added in. Yet, that is what we all face as partners, spouses and parents, and as difficult as it is none of us would change a thing. Life is not only hard work, but fun, due to all of these incredible experiences.

Anytime parents have more than one child, their parenting skills need to be elevated greatly. An important topic to discuss is children being singled out by parents as favorite, or even least favorite. Sometimes, as a human being, you instantly like a person, or the opposite, and the same might be true for your children.

Maintaining a healthy perspective in all areas with your children is important, especially when it comes to favoritism. To make a child feel like he or she is unwanted, is just about the worst thing that any parent could do. Any situation where children have been shown favoritism, needs to be repaired as soon as possible, before matters become irreparable.

Parents are the examples for almost everything when it comes to children. Children are good at learning what they can get out of which parent. Since children tend to mimic or emulate the only thing they have been exposed to, it makes sense that some of your behaviors are passed right along to them. Most parents are only passing on what they learned from their parent, so that is why there are so few parents who are the best role models. Yes, there will be those special times when things get out of control, perhaps. If those times are definitely not the norm, then children will see that and have an understanding about it.

Most parents realize and understand the value of consistency when it comes to enforcing the rules and operating policies in the home. One of the big problems with being consistent, is that the two parents can't always agree on how tough the standards should be. Children are very good at manipulation once they know which parent will give in for what. Children need boundaries, but they will get discourage if the strict parent always get their way. Giving in will only cause future problems, so parents need to get the rules and discipline right, where they won't have to give-in.

Being a parent is a high calling, and the people who do the best parenting are the ones who teach their children to also become good parents. Kids will naturally gravitate to those areas that interest them. Success is called having a passion, and having an ability in that passion, and having parents that will support that passion.
