X-ray Technician: Potential Job

X-ray Technician: Potential Job

The x-ray tech jobs revolve around the healthcare centers to aid in making sure doctors

can perform accurate diagnoses about the patients illnesses through the imaging films. Nevertheless, there is quite a distinctive different between the radiologic technicians and technologists although both are interchangeably used. Technicians are often related to tasks handling the CT scan, x-ray, and MRI machines, should there be a breakdown while the technologists are the group of professionals working with doctors and patients to produce the imaging films.

While both technicians and technologists have their respective job scales, x-ray tech jobs involve a little of both. They will conduct preparations for patients to undergo radiology, much like what the nurses are doing. Then they will make sure the patients are fit and calm to go through the x-ray process. At times they will communicate with the patients, understanding their fears and needs, and garner information for survey or paperwork. There is another similarity between them and the nurses as they accumulate and transport the data to physicians because they are strictly forbidden to speak to the patients regarding the diagnoses or even the results of their scan.

Yes, it could be in the skills of the x-ray technologists to be able to decipher the images for hernia, spot breaks or other problems but it is never in their duty scope to interpret the images for patients. The findings must be delivered to patients from the mouth of a doctor. Their profession covers operating the x-ray machines, including the larger stationary ones to the smaller portable equipments. They will handle the machines to capture images of the patients organs, bones and soft tissues before developing them and send them to radiologists or doctors. It is also their responsibility to enlighten any problems that need immediate urgency to the corresponding staff members.

X-ray technologists can either commit to the part-time or full-time jobs in laboratories, hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, clinics or outpatient care centers. Full-time career will give them a total of 40 hours a week while part-time may mark a period of 20 hours a week. However, it is a known fact that injuries and illnesses may occur randomly, all of them are subjected to on-call shifts, nighttime and overtime work schedule.
