What Do Pet, Wild And Baby Birds Eat?

Birds are basically feathered animals that have two legs and can fly

. The variety of birds classified today is huge and so is the bird food. Approximately 10000 different kinds of birds have been specified. These range from sizes as tiny as a bee to big and tall ostriches that are 9 inch in height.

Colorful and intelligent birds are often kept as pets. Few of these birds have the intellectual capacity of a small child and may even surprise you by learning how to talk! But what do they eat? Many of the birds categorized as parrots eat seeds and fruits to remain healthy. They often enjoy fruits and vegetables that have low sugar as a treat. It is a good idea to give the parrots a challenging way to get to their food; the reason being that they prefer staying inspired and occupied with the environment.

The wild life birds have a different diet. Wild bird food usually depends on the size of the bird. Those that are smallest in size can manage to survive just by drinking the nectar in flowers. The sparrow is a little larger and prefers to eat wild bird seeds, worms and insects such as crickets or even mosquitoes. Some birds like to settle by the water waiting to dive in and catch a fish. Bigger birds like eagles fly down from the sky to pounce on their preys which are usually smaller animals like rabbits or maybe other birds. Few birds like gulls often steal the good food off other birds. They are considered lazy and do not like to take the effort of finding food for themselves. Wilder birds like vultures are required for cleaning up the jungles and to avoid diseases spreading. This is because these birds eat the corpse of an animal after it has died.

Chicks are called baby birds and are hatched out of eggs. These baby birds depend on their parents to provide them with food. Either one parent leaves the chicks with the other parent in the nest and then flies out to find food. They return with the food in their mouths and the chicks waiting to dab at them. These little chicks depend on their parents for food until they get adult feathers of their own and are able to fly.

There are thousands of types of birds out there. Each of them has their own different ways of flying. For this reason, the variety of things that birds can eat is simply breathtaking.
