Water Treatment - Filters, Softeners, Or Water Coolers?

Water Treatment - Filters, Softeners, Or Water Coolers?

If you have just moved into your new home you probably had the water tested

. Perhaps it was city water that is tested from time to time anyway. If it is well water, the report can be valuable in telling you whether the water in your home is safe to drink. Safe drinking water is essential to life and having it in your home is no luxury. If you were warned not to drink your water you may want to consider water treatment.

You have options like water filtration systems and water softeners. Water softeners are used because there is "hard water". This means that the water has something like iron in it that is bothersome, but not harmful. For instance, an iron problem could clog your pipes, sprinkler, and even make your laundry orange. Water filtration can improve the taste and clean contaminants out of the water. No matter your needs, there are options for making sure your water is clean and tastes better.

Often, people with iron water have purchased an old home and inherited this problem. A water softener can only help with certain levels of iron contamination. Another option is to drill a new well, but there is no guarantee you won't hit iron water again. Some families choose to hire a professional to suggest, install and maintain a softening system for them. Other families may choose to have a water cooler for drinking.

A water cooler can be filtered water from your tap. In fact, families with city water contaminated with chlorine can even benefit from this. They hook up a cooler with full water jugs, or they tap into your water supply and filter your own water. Either way you will have a cool machine that has clean water to drink in it. This may even get your kids drinking more water since it is a pretty cool looking unit. With kids in mind, think safety. A hot water tap should either not produce hot enough water to burn or it should be at a level children can't reach. In fact, if you're thinking of just using one of these units for drinking cold water, you may be better off financially to stick to one without a hot water option. This is of course not necessarily water treatment, but it is a step in the direction to clean water for your family.Water Treatment - Filters, Softeners, Or Water Coolers?

With water an essential part of life, it's no wonder we want it to be clean. Your family and potentially your pipes will thank you. Many people who have lived with hard water or even just chlorine in city water noted softer skin and smoother hair after water treatment. Treated water can make your entire family healthier inside and out.
