Calling The Crack Doctor

If theres one thing prominent about the world today, it is concrete. Regardless where you are, it would be next to impossible for you not to encounter any form of concrete. On the off-chance that you are not familiar with it, concrete is actually a construction material made from Portland cement mixed with other materials such as fly ash and slag cement, crushed rocks, water, and chemical admixtures.

Because of its strength, concrete is commonly used to create roads, houses, and buildings. Unfortunately, strong as concrete might seem, it is still prone to wear and tear as well as damage. Some of the most common culprits when it comes to damages to concrete slabs include presence of seawater, movement of soil, thermal changes, and bacterial corrosion.

Fortunately, there are a number of concrete stabilization technologies that can help preserve the integrity of the slab, one of which is the use of Carbon Fiber Countersunk Staples. Oftentimes, concrete stabilization involves preparing the surface and the injecting a specially formulated epoxy mixture in order to fill the void. Once the void has been filled in, the cracks are stapled in order to prevent any movement. Usually, staples are placed 24 inches from each other.

Concrete stabilization involving major cracks and holes usually needs to be undercut. This would enable the old concrete to bond much better with the new concrete. Concrete adhesives such as acrylic resin are brushed on the surface of the undercut in order to ensure that the new concrete would hold on securely to the old concrete.

Concrete stabilization technologies need not be used in doing major repairs. Even in hairline cracks, these technologies can prove to be useful. Oftentimes, procedures for repair of hairline cracks would involve moistening the area around the cracks in order to avoid water from being drawn out of the grout before it had time to do its job. Once the grout has been applied, you have to let it set for two hours before putting a cover on top of it. Let it stand for five days moistening the grout every now and then. If, after a while, the crack reappears, this means that reinforcement is already needed.

There are a number of concrete stabilization companies that you can choose from today. All you have to do is check online for their contact details and ask for a quotation. Make sure that you check previous works that they have done so that you can be sure about the quality of their work.
